Al-Qalam Schools Holds 14th Graduation, Prize Giving And Award Ceremony In Grand Style

Friends, parents, families, associates of learners’ and management of Al-Qalam Schools, a leading Islamic School in Ibadan, Oyo State has come together to thank Almighty Allah on behalf of the school as they celebrate their 14th Graduation, Prize Giving and Award Ceremony.

The event which was held on Saturday 29th of July, 2023 (11th Muharram 1445) was indeed a memorable occasion for everyone in attendance and was graced by several Muslim dignitaries from far and near such as: Alhaja Kudirat Aderibigbe, Alhaji Ibrahim Aderolu, Engineer Sulaimon Yahyah, Alhaji Saheed Oladele (The Managing Director, Erudite Milenium Limited Ibadan), Alhaji Imam AbdulGaniy Otun (Imam, Anwar-ul-Islam Society of Nigeria, Ibadan Branch), Mr. Abeeb Lawal (Finance Manager- Awake interlink Nigeria Limited and Senior Facilitator at Brainy Professional Academy), Mrs. Faizat Adeagbo among others.

In her welcome address which was delivered virtually, the Director of Academics of the school, Hajia Otun Rukayat Abimbola admonished parents never to relent in their parenting functions and to rise tall in discharging their roles and responsibilities, especially in today’s society. Speaking, she stated:

“In reality it could be hard to record future success without sustaining the past and current achievements for more heights; greatness attained by our predecessors and foremost muslim scholars is worth emulating. And that enough is a source of inspiration to all muslim youths starting from the learners of Al-Qalam Schools. I implore parents not to ever stop doing it right in their parenting functions because a winner never quits.”

Going further, she referenced the saying of beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) which goes thus: “Everyone is a shepherd and you shall be questioned on the manner you shepherd.” and urged Parents to reflect on quoted Quran verses in Suratul At-Tahrim verse 66; where Allah (swt) says “O ye who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a fire….”

Moving on, she congratulated the Graduands of Class 2023 for completing their studies and achieving a new milestone. She echoed that their hard work, determination, and perseverance has paid off, and more than, the school is indeed proud of their accomplishments.

She however challenged the graduads as they proceed to another chapter of their lives to imbibe Islamic teachings learnt during their years in the school and reminded them to stay true to the principles of Islamic faith and always uphold and lift the banner of Islam wherever they find themselves because not only that is Islam a blessing to Muslims but also, a source of moral compass and total guide since it is a complete way of life.

“I urged you graduads to remain steadfast in upholding islamic teachings as you go forth from the School and strive to make positive impact in the world. You are the future leaders of our ummah, and it is up to you to carry the torch of Islam and ensure that its light shines brightly for generations to come,” Hajia Rukayat added.

The Chairman of event, Alhaji Ibrahim Aderolu, Coordinator, Coalition Movement for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (COMBAT), United Kingdom (UK) Chapter in his words said he was impressed with what he came to know better about Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan and was pleased for supporting the leadership of the School in this little way. He then presented a Cash Award to Abdulwarith Abdulwaheed (The Best Graduating Student for Academic year 2022/2023) in honor of her late mother.

He however used the golden opportunity at the event to make a special call to all Muslim parents in Ibadan, who value Islamic teachings, academic excellence and morals not to hesitate in having a critical look at the Mission Statement of the school; Core-values; past and present impressive records in making worthwhile decision for their children’s enrolment in the school.

The Director of Academics unveiled some of the school’s achievements for Academic year 2022/2023. The event was and shall forever be memorable to many, especially the teaching staff awarded for long service and dedication to work and awardees who were surprisingly honored with Cash Prizes.

Other highlights of the event included recitation from the Holy Quran; lecture by Imam AbdRahman Muhammad Awwal ( Imam, Lead City University Ibadan ); Motivational speech by Alhaji Saheed Oladele (Erudite Milenium Limited) as well as a Talk on Pathway to Accounting Profession through ATSWA by Abeeb Lawal ACA, a Senior Lecturer at Brainy Professionals Academy (BPA).

The theme for the just concluded 14th Graduation, Prize Giving and Award Ceremony of the School was “Sustaining our Glory” with the topic themed: Liberty from perceived Islamic bondage.
