In a bid to elevate female learners’ courage and allay their fear against any challenge, the Management of Al-Qalam Schools Ibadan in conjunction with Zalsy Gold Firm has put together Girl-Child Orientation Day titled “Beat Your Challenges” The event which is aimed to inform, educate and inspire Girl-child took place on Wednesday, 6th of April, 2022 at the school premises.
The Director of Academics at Al-Qalam Schools, Hajia Otun Rukayat Abimbola remarked that nothing is too much to be invested in Girl-Child total education including morals. Her words:”Our beloved Prophet Muhammad reportedly said whoever has a daughter and he does not bury her alive, nor humiliate her, nor prefer his sons over her, he will enter Paradise due to her.”
“Additionally, our school considered it extremely important to aid our parents in their parental roles, especially towards girl-child. Resilience efforts in such roles really positioned Al-Qalam to be more than a school but a home away from homes. It’s never an overstatement that we are parents as well. So, today’s event is one of many parenting roles of our school within our system and immediate community. Aside from the ongoing event, we have held several sessions of online-Parental Seminars.
“Seeing the gaps in the society nowadays, we are advocating for enhanced collaborations and mutual understanding between parents and schools in Nigeria at large to restore moral values in the society; being one of the means towards National development and growth.”
The CEO of Zalsy Gold Firm, Zarat Oyenuga in her presentation covering identifying distractions, self-confidence, moral values among others said that from an Islamic perspective, there’s nothing like gender discrimination but there are ordained girl-child limitations that must be appreciated as believers.
Zarat Oyenuga who is an academically and commercially astute Hospitality Consultant with a passion for business, education, and lifestyle urged the girls not to relent in their effort to attain greater heights in life.
According to the Vice-Principal, Mr. Afolabi Idris, the event is indeed an eye-opener for the female learners of Al-Qalam Schools. “Our distinguished speaker related excellently with the learners in an interactive manner during the orientation talk, delving into challenges facing female students in schools and in the corporate world. I really appreciate and commend the good work of the Speaker (Hajia Zarat Oyenuga) for her remarkable talk and also the Management for bringing up such initiative,” Afolabi added.
Mrs. Bakare Azeezat (The HOI – Head of Instructors ) said the event’s content is relevant and well-tailored to elevate female learners’ courage and allay their fear against any challenge as the Theme states: Beat your Challenges.
