Women around the world to be recognized during virtual event

LAGOS, NIGERIA – October 6, 2020.

Amanda Obidike has been named the winner of a Glold Stevie® Award in the Female Innovator and Executive category in the 17th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards. Winners will be celebrated during a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 9. More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year. Her Organization, STEMi Makers Africa also won in the Silver Stevie Award for Non-profit Organization category.

Amanda Obidike expressed utmost joy about this award and recognition coming amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Amanda Obidike congratulated her team mates across the various Communities and Countries that they function in. In her words, she said “Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Innovation has come to stay and we will do well to be ambassadors who will champion Africa to the world stage in STEMi.”

The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 180 business professionals around the world, working on seven juries. Maggie Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards, said, “In a year like no other in our lifetimes, we’ve produced a cohort of amazing, Stevie-winning women, organizations, and achievements like no other. At all times our winners show themselves to be fearless and indomitable, but their leadership and example are especially valued this year. We congratulate all of our Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie winners. We look forward to celebrating them during our December 9 virtual ceremony, and to hearing from some of them during our Women|Future Conference on November 12-13.”

Yet to be announced are the winners in three Red Ladder Women in Technology categories, sponsored by HCL Technologies, as well as five Grand Stevie Award winners in the competition. HCL category winners, and the identities of the best-of-the-competition winners, will be announced during the week of October 12.
