Bring water back to Odanbon Community – YNN

The Sustainable Development Goal 6 says Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

The story is the direct opposite for the people of Odanbon Community, Surulere LGA, Oyo State.

This Community had solar-powered borehole done in 2010 but since then it has been bad till date, they live on dirty well water, all efforts for the community to get this working again has been futile as the residents are subsistence farmers who barely have enough to feed than to spare to provide portable borehole water for themselves.

In the course of our visit to communities under the YNNCommunity Development YNNComDev initiative, YNN team was led by some missionaries to the community and we met with the King, Olodanbon of Odanbon Land who shared their pains and concerns.

Odanbon since inception has not had Primary Health Center, as pregnant women have to travel about 20 kilometers to access the nearest hospital at Ogbomosho.

No Secondary School in the community also, children engage in trekking for hours to access available education center mostly without food in their stomach until they return home later in the day.

Roads are nothing to write home about as are the natural resources that is not accessible by the people.

YNN hereby invite all well meaning Nigerians home and abroad to support us provide Water for the innocent children, pregnant and other weak women and for the men of Odanbon Community.

Water is Life. Water is a Right. Quality water is an assurance of healthy living as it heals and cures diseases.
