The last edition of Matogbun Area Community Development Committee (MACDC) meeting in the year 2019 was held in a grand style as the pioneer chairman of the Area CDC, Deacon O. M. Olapade bows out. The historical event which was held on Thursday, 7th of November, 2019 at the Community Hall, Matogbun had prominent community leaders such as Prince G. B. Adebanjo (Former Ifo Zonal CDC chairman), Elder Odebiyi, Otunba Olusanya as well as Elder Jegede in attendance.
The outgoing chairman, Deacon O. M. Olapade in his hand over note appreciate Almighty God and leaders and fellowers of the community for giving him the opportunity to serve. He also stated the success and challenges confronting the CDC. Part of his speech reads:
“The major challenge of this outgoing administration is Matogbun – Oke Aro road, the stakeholders have held more than one hundred sittings to deliberate and brainstorm ways to fix the road. Several presentations were made to the Federal Government, State and Local Government for attention, I pray God will answer our prayers for timely assistance.
“Electricity has been another big challenge especially provision of transformer, maintenance of existing transformer and estimated billings. Prepaid meter that was meant to be free of charge is hence to be bought by our people, this challenge is without respite.
“Our people have suffered because of lack of provision of health facility in the area by the government. Maidan Health Centre that was both by communal effort is yet to be approved and commissioned despite various letters report and presentation made to the government by the Area CDC.
“I have paid my dues as a servant of purpose to develop Matogbun Area CDC, I have committed myself to be servant leader, most of my time for those four years is spent at meetings, more at police station, more at various groups and CDAs concerns and now I am ready to allow a better person to take charge of the scheme of things.
“While I remain an ex-officio of the incoming executive, I promise to give the best support and ensure the incoming administration have a successful tenure.”
The immediate past chairman of Ifo Zonal CDC, Prince G. B. Adebanjo applauded the outgoing executive of Matogbun Area CDC for a well done job throughout their tenure. He also commended those who supported the administration and those who have been contributing their quota to the growth and development of the community, urging community members to take good care of their CDA saying that is when good project can be initiated.
Adebanjo also admonished community members to be proactive in community service adding that community leadership position is base on merit and your contribution to the growth and development of the community as community leaders usually keep eyes on members of the community to know who really deserve any position.
