Community Gist retrieve certificate, prizes from school for impersonation

Community Gist, a leading online community newspaper and organizer of the just concluded annual Community Inter-Schools Spelling Bee that took place on Saturday, 16th of March, 2019 at the Community Hall, Matogbun had retrieve the certificate of honour and prizes presented to a school (name withheld) because a the school presented JSS 1 pupils to represent them at the Lower Basic (Primary) category of the competition.

According to Comrade Azeez Ramon, the convener of the event said the step is necessary in order to curtain the school from the habit and it will also serve as deterrent to other schools that might be planning to engage in such bad habit in the subsequent events.

“Recall that I stated categorically in my welcome address that one of the mission of this programme is to discourage examination malpractice in our educational system and am highly disappointed with this development. But we will be doing thorough check in our subsequent editions,” Azeez asserted.

The CEO of Garu Technologies Nigeria Ltd, the sponsor of the event, Alhaji Lukman Garu who reveal the impersonation to the organizer of the event, totally condemned the act and admonished the organizer to always do thorough background check of participating schools and pupils, if they want him to continue to sponsor the event, adding that he will never engage in or encourage cheating.
