Community set to make Otemuyi road motorable

The people of Royal Progressive Group of CDAs under the chairmanship of Mr. Bayo Adekoya have taken their destiny in their hands by putting palliative measures in place in order to reduce the pains and sufferings of the people on Otemuyi road which has been in a deplorable condition for a long time.

The Chairman of Royal Progressive Group of CDAs, Mr. Bayo Adekoya told our correspondent that the present condition of the road has negatively affect the community. His words: “The present state of the road has led to many landlords relocating, shops closing down and the only way to access the area has been through motorcycle (okada).

“Having waited so long for never available government intervention the community decided to take their destiny in their own hand by coming together of 8 CDAs under the Royal Progressive Group of CDAs to see how we can fix some area of the road to at least make the road motorable.

“Recently we had our community work day which is a day set aside for all of us to come out and work on the road. It was a very successful day as all our community leaders, youths and elders came out enmass to participate. Presently, drainages are being fix and which we intend to start fillings.”

Drainage constructed via community effort

The Chairman of Ife Oluwa CDA, who is also a member of the road committee, Alhaji Oseni Okunlola in an interview with our correspondent said one of the factors that led to deplorable state of the road now is further development in the community.

“One on the factors that led to deplorable state of the road is further development in the community, there are a lot of people using water, so water level has increased that is why the level of gutter that we currently have is not enough for the capacity of the erosion and that is why most of the places are gotten damage but there is hope that one day we will achieve our aim, Alhaji Oseni asserted.”

Alhaji Oseni however call on both local and state government to come to their rescue saying the community does not have the financial capability to tar the road adding that the road project is gradual and not at speedy rate in terms of financial ability.

The Road Committee Chairman, Pastor Adeyemi Williams appreciate those that contributed one way or the other to the road project and urged them to not relent in their support.

Otemuyi road that connect communities like Olomowewe, Adiyan as well as Gasline is one of the several deteriorated roads in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State as residents are the ones contributing their hard earn money, time and resources to make the roads a bit motorable. Ifo Local Government, particularly Ifo constituency 2 is known for her large votes during electioneering period but neglect and abandonment has always be the reward the residents of the local government get in return from both the local and state government.
