In an effort to sensitize the people of Agege, Dopemu and environs on the danger of rape and other sexual violence, Dopemu Agege Youth Wing had organized an awareness walk against rape, sexual abuse as well as sexual base violence.

The walk which was tagged “No to rape, child and gender based violence and a rape-free zone in Agege was held on Thursday, 30th of July.

The Representatives of the Youth Wing were worried about the development, especially after the number of Rape cases and child abuse that has occurred with January- July 2020.

“This is a pandemic blowing up on our faces and we cannot afford to be indifferent. This is the reason our communities must stand up in defence and protection of our girl child and women. This campaign is long overdue because our men must learn and understand that women have their right to exist without fear of molestation and assault,” a representative of the youth wing said.

Efforts to combat violence
