An international grant advisor with The Pollination Project (TPP), a grant making charity organization based in the USA, and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, TEF, Mr. Kunle Ajayi has charged young people in Akure on the best pathway to tread to getting local and international grants for their social and business projects/ideas.

At the event organized by the Global Harvest Church Akure, on Friday 23rd August 2019, Tagged “Brace Up”, Mr Ajayi challenged the youths not to be complacent; rather they should stand up and reach out to access necessary information in order to realize their dreams. Speaking during the training, Mr Ajayi mentioned having a viable social or business idea is one step but readiness to take action and pursue the realization caps it all.

Kunle Ajayi further said that, the youths should work on their stories, personalities, implementation plan, leadership capability, budgetary allocation, sustainability plan as well as their monitoring and evaluation model. He further added that their projects must be premised on at least, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Meanwhile Pastor Shina Ayanniyi, the resident pastor of the church, who was represented by Pastor Isaac Adubazi, re-iterated the commitment of the church to reposition young people in the Christian fold. He said young people need to be trained, equipped and empowered with the appropriate human, material and financial resources needed to achieve their goals in life. He therefore urged the participants to take full advantage of the rare opportunity brought to them by the church and go set the pace in the world and hold the ace as well.

The participants were so happy with the initiative of the church and thanked the facilitator, Mr. Kunle Ajayi for coming to open up their minds to funding opportunities. One of the participants, Mrs Yemi Ogedengbe, a 60 year old retiree said, the program was indeed for her because she just found the way out of her financial dreadlock. Another participant, Miss Dayo said, her boss had sat her down several times to train her on how to apply for grants, but she never understood. She added that Mr. Ajayi’s session is a big eye opener for her. Other participants said they had learnt something new they would use based on the unusual experience they have acquired from the practical sessions.
