Students in Orile- Agege area of Lagos State, have benefited from the academic counselling Seminar which focused on choosing a career path as organised by Youths under the aegies of Idi-Orogbo Community Youth in the state.

Advising the students on the theme “Career Exploration,” who took place earlier in the week, the guest speaker and life coach, Mr Lawal Ismail described education as not the filling of a bucket but lightning of a fire.

He urged them to define their potential, ambition and goals in life rather than being forced to tolling any career path.

According to the facilitator, potential, ability, and aspiration remain the key for those younger students who are in secondary school level.

He recommended that SWOT analysis, Marketing, education, mentorship, training as well as optimism are the steps toward achieving a successful career path.

Speaking on the prgramm, the chief convener of Idi-Orogbo Community Youth, Jamiu Ademosu disclosed that the seminar is the second edition of it’s kind in order to impart on the younger ones in the community.

“Having realised the menace in the society, we deemed it fit to better give younger people a career path for them to be focusd and not joining the bad wagons in the society.

“This is the second edition. We had the first edition last year where we focused on Adolescence and the distraction that affects them. But now it’s about career path and we have recorded positive turn out as response from the students,” Jamiu asserted.

The Program was graced by Mr. Akinyemiju Omoshile, Chairman Idi- Orogbo Community Development Association who was honoured with an award by the organisers.
