Lagos Community Youth Development Initiative Inaugurates New Executives

The Lagos Community Youth Development Initiative (LCYDI) successfully conducted its Election through consensus and have a successful Handing Over to the new leadership led by Comrade Dele Moses at State Management Meeting which was held on 29th June, 2024 at Ikeja Local Government Secretariat multipurpose Hall and was attended by key stakeholders of the Organization, Executive Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, representatives from 57 LG and LCDA across the State and representatives from Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

The meeting was anchored by Ambassador Akanni Michael, Immediate past State Chairman and with key contributions from the Electoral and Inauguration Committees chaired by Comrade Olamibo Ikuomola, other notable committee members included Comrade Olaibi Emmanuel, Supervising Councilor from Ifako Ijaiye Local Government and Comrade Inalegwu Gabriel Anya (Representative of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development)

Some Highlights from the Management Meeting…

Commencement and Opening Prayer: The meeting was officially opened with a motion by Ambassador Joseph Ayobami JP from Orile Agege LCDA and seconded by Ojo James from Ikorodu LG; followed by an opening prayer led by Hon. Kehinde Omotehinse from Kosofe LG.

Introduction of the Electoral Committee: – The Electoral Committee members were introduced; highlighting their roles and responsibilities for the electioneering period.

Organization activities Report for the Year 2023 by: Ambassador Akanni Michael, provided a brief overview of the activities and achievements of LCYDI in 2023, including participation at the inauguration of Mr. Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his second term, active participation in the 2023 National Youth Day organize by the Ministry of Youth and social development: The Annual Leadership Retreat at Oshodi Digital Bridge for three days; and the successful Award Night Event, recognizing and reward outstanding individual and Organizations that have make impacts in the state.

Recognition and Appreciation: – Amb. Akanni Michael appreciate the roles played by some committee Chiarmen to organize a successful event during the year 2023; He mentioned Comrade Yaya Babatunde for his efforts in organizing the Award Night, while Comrade. Taiwo Omotehinse and Comrade Samsondeen was recognized for the success of the 2023 Annual Leadership Retreat in Oshodi.

LCYDI Election Process: – Ambassador Akanni Michael addressed the stakeholders and new elected EXCOs, the challenges ahead of them, urging support for the incoming Executive Committee (EXCO) and emphasizing the importance of dedication and teamwork.

Remarks from Electoral Committee Chairman: – Comrade Olamibo Ikuomola emphasized the need for unity and commitment among the new Executive Committee members, highlighting that the election process, whether by consensus or ratification, should be embraced in good faith.

The Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government , Hon. Yomi, delivering an inspiring message on the importance of absolute loyalty and dedication in leadership. He shared his political journey and emphasized “patience” for the New Leadership to be able to achieve their set goals.

• Goodwill message by the representative of Ministry of Youth and Social Development: Mr Inalegwu Gabriel, he congratulated the new EXCOs and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts, improving weaknesses, and embracing meritocracy.
• Observations: – Comrade Yahaya suggested setting up a reconciliation/transition committee, while Hon. Idowu Olatunbosun apologized for lateness and suggested the new leadership should extend spirit of Love to all members.
• Adjournment and Closing Prayer:
  • The State Management meeting was adjourned following a motion by Comrade Rotimi Shogunle from Ikeja Local Government and seconded by Comrade Anuolupo from Ikorodu West LCDA. Closing prayer led by Chief Oladimeji Olonade, Olori Odo Agbelekale from Agbado Oke Odo LCDA. The Management Meeting closed at exactly 3:20pm with photo section with the newly elected Executive Committee Members.
