Maidan United host Matogbun ACDC first meeting of the year

The good people of Matogbun Area Community Development Committee came together as usual to deliberate on how to develop the community. The meeting which was hosted by Maidan United Group of CDAs was held on Thursday, 7th of January, 2021 at Maidan Primary Health Centre and has prominent community leaders in attendance such as Chief Yahya Bankole Ekemode (Baale, Maidan Town), Otunba P. A. Olusanya (Patron of the Area CDC), Deacon O. M. Olapade (Immediate past Chairman of the Area CDC), Alhaja Lawal (Immediate past General Secretary of the Area CDC) as well as Alhaji Ademola Adeagbo (Immediate past Chairman of Maidan United Group of CDAs).

Maidan United Group of CDAs Chairman, Mr. M. O.. Yusuf, who was ably represented by the General Secretary of the Group, Mr. Akeem in his welcome address heartily welcome everyone to the meeting and wish them prosperous new year. He then highlighted CDAs projects as well as the Group projects so far. Part of his speech reads:

“It is exactly two years since we last hosted this statutory meeting. I seize this opportunity to once again welcome and wish you happy and prosperous new year. The present regime came into existence seven months ago and since the exchange of leadership, we have been enjoying unflinching support of the former exco members led by Alhaji S.A. Adeagbo. We appreciate you and we will continue to build on the legacy left behind. Maidan United Group has seven CDAs, namely; Maidan Central, Ifesowapo CDA, Oluwalogbon CDA, Riverside CDA, Unity CDA, Itesiwaju CDA as well as Ijisesan CDA.

“Group projects; the Health Centre Building has been taken over by the Ifo Local Government Council under the leadership of Honourable Fola Salami and on completion was commissioned by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftance Matters on Wednesday, 7th of October, 2020. We are very grateful and appreciate the role played by the Area CDC, Oke Odo Political Forum and concerned individual members on this development.

“Please, let us not relent in our collective effort to ensure that the Local and State Government, has indeed promised supply necessary equipment, materials and personnel without further delay to make the building useful for the purpose for which it was built. The importance of this project at this period of COVID19 pandemic cannot be over emphasized.

“Electricity; we shall soon continue work on our electricity project for which we have received provisional approval. The 300 KVA transformer purchased by the Group when energised will provide relief for the Ikeja Electric Transformer, currently in use and thus boost electricity supplies in Maidan and neighbouring communities.

“Education; we are happy to inform this gathering that the family of Ogundipe has donated a piece of land to the community to build our own school. We appreciate this kind gesture. The preliminary work documentation has started already.”

The Chairman rounded up his speech by appreciating those that have been contributing in no small measure to the growth and development of Maidan Community. His words; “we appreciate the Chairman, Garu Tech Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Lukman Garu for the development of Maidan Community, the Health Centre in particular, we are indelibly grateful. May Almighty God continues to guide and abundantly bless him. We also appreciate the following people; Alhaji K. A. Ashafa, Elder Kareem Liadi and also my predecessor, Alahaji S. A. Adeagbo and Mr. Ibrahim, immediate past Vice Chairman of the Group for always being there for us. We thank all the CDA Chairmen and everybody that contributed in whatever way to make it possible for the Group to host this meeting.”

Matogbun Area CDC Chairman, Alhaji Adedokun Ibikunle while reacting to the welcome address applauded the General Secretary for ably represented the Group Chairman and commended Maidan United for a well done job but admonished them to do more particularly on their sitting dues, saying majority of their CDAs are not paying their sitting dues as at when due. He also admonished CDA executives to pay the sum of five hundred naira (#500) for the construction of Ifo Zonal CDC Community Secretariat, he said the idea is to raise five thousand naira (#5,000) from each CDA in Ifo Local Government Area for the construction of the Secretariat.

The immediate past Chairman of Matogbun Area CDC, Deacon O. M. Olapade commended the Transition Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Fola Salami for given the community plot of land to construction Community Secretariat, he said this is something many past Chairmen of the Local Government have failed to do for a long time. He then urged the CDA executives to contribute the five hundred naira (#500) Ifo Zonal CDC asked them to contribute for the construction of the Secretariat.

Baale Maidan Town, Chief Yahya Bankole Ekemode applauded everyone present at the meeting, he commended them for contributing their quota to the growth and development of Maidan in particular and Matogbun Area CDC in general.
