In a bid to reduce the plight of residents of Matogbun and environs and to make the road more motorable, the leaders in the community have started digging gutter on both sides of the road. According to them, digging the gutter will make water, particularly rainfall that usually stays on their road flow easy, which in turn make the road more motorable.

In an interview with the Baale of Matogbun, Chief Akin Okanlawon Oseteni he said they embark on the project in order to reduce the suffering they encounter on the road on a daily basis.

“This project is meant to relieve us of suffering we used to encounter on this road on a daily basis. The project is being carried out by the three (3) affected communities; Matogbun, Maidan and Koye in conjunction with the Area CDCs. The road has always been a very big challenge to us and our calls to the government have not yielded any positive result, which is the reason why we are doing this self help project by digging the gutter ourselves.

“I am also using this medium to appeal to residents of the community who are fond of dumping refuse in the gutter to desist from such barbaric act, anyone found doing that will be reported to the police to face the full wrath of the law,” he asserted.

The chairman of transport workers in the community, Elder Liadi Kareem popularly called Oyibiri commended the communities as well as the Area CDCs for coming together to bring little relief to the people despite the fact that the government has failed to come to their aid. He then admonished them (the communities and the Area CDCs) to continue to work together in order to have a motorable road before the government comes to their aid.

Oyibiri also admonished the state government to always fulfill the promises made to the people during the electioneering period adding that this will also help the government to generate more revenue, saying people will be willing to pay all sorts of taxes if the government can construct the road.
