The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria,(MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit has joined millions of Lagosians in felicitating with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who has now been sworn in as the 15th Executive Governor of Lagos state.

In an official congratulatory message issued on the occasion of the governor’s inaugural ceremony, the Amir (President) of the Lagos state Area Unit of the society, Dr Saheed Ashafa reminded Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu not to foget those promises made prior to his emergence as governor.

“We Congratulate you and your deputy as you mount the throne of leadership in the state. Your inaugural speech is full of hopes and sounds profound with spirituality. You must then govern with spirit of Godliness and do not forget your promises in a haste”

The students based society which expressed its admiration for Mr Sanwo- Olu’s plans to improving quality of education in the state believed the sincere implementation of technology driven education will only make it work.

“As students’ body, we admire your development agenda as captured in the acronym “THEMES” and particularly attracted by your ‘Edu-tech’ vision for students. We believe that sincere implementation of technology driven education will add value to the current standard and make significant impacts in our lives as a people’

Dr Ashafa urged the new governor to adopt the modern trend of inclusive governance where students are integrated to play significant roles in the administration of government policies in the state. According to him,

“Students are mostly vulnerable and must be carried along in an inclusive governance required by the trend in the modern world. You must be reminded that our country is backward educationally and Lagos State should be the pace setters of the required standard”

Advising Mr Sanwolu-Olu further on best practices to be successful , the students leader hinted that the Governor must be a servant leader, responsive and approachable to take the state to the promised land as highlighted in his mandates for Lagos and its people.

” Governance in Lagos must practically be a collective process. As you have emphasized the need for collectivism during electioneering, we hope it will not be empty words as you asserted in your inaugural speech.

He added “You must be friendly, accessible and accommodating. Servant-leaders as you desire to operate are always responsive, approachable and flexible. You must allow us participate in the collective build of Lagos’
