A non-governmental organisation, People First Initaitive (PFI), has said all is set for its two weeks free training on Essay Writing and Communication Skills for secondary school students.

The training which will be held online is for SS 1 and 2 students, starting tomorrow, Saturday 8th of August and end on Sunday, 16th of August 2020.

According to the Founder of the NGO, Mr Adeniyi Arije, the two weeks extensive training on communication and writing skills is focused on building students writing culture and providing easy ways for them to learn how to write well.

Stating further, Mr Arije said it will also avail the students the opportunity of learning best ways to communicate within themselves and the society at large.

He said at the end of the training an essay writing competition will be organised for participants to test their understanding of the training, saying 1st – 3rd best entries for the competition will be awarded with different prizes.

Given reason for the training, he said the NGO is touched by the negative effect the continued closure of schools have on the students.

He said: “As part of our effort to making the students have something doing during this lockdown, we decided to come up with this online training as a way of contributing to educational growth and societal development.

“We found out that many of these students lack adequate writing skills and have no proper training on communication skills, which is a vital tool in every aspect of life, this gaps, we have set out to fill in this training we are organising. We will also organise writing competition for them at the end of the training and best 3 entries will be rewarded with different prizes.”

Speaking on other activities of PFI, Mr Arije said the NGO through its Kit a Pupil/Student Project (KPSP), is working to making sure every child in the society goes to school as the project is meant to give out educational materials, school uniforms, school sandals and all materials needed by a student/pupil in school.

“As an NGO, our keen interest and focus is to ensure every child goes to school and gets educated, we are doing this through our kit a pupil/student project which aims at helping children whose parents can not afford educational materials for their kids to be able to get them back to school,” he said.
