
Olambe Area CDC 1st community day and sentforth/award ceremony
Saturday, 31st of August, 2019 was indeed a joyous day for the good people of Olambe Area CDC as the day was set aside to celebrate themselves and honour those who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of their community.
The event that was held at Olambe Community School had several dignitaries as well as prominent community developers in attendance which include; Hon. Oluwole Enilolobo (Former Chairman, Ifo Local Government), Chief Abraham Adewusi Ogunremi (Baale of Olambe Town), Alhaji (Dr) S. A. Olowo, Prince G. B. Adebanjo, Comrade (Prince) F. Adewodun, Prince Niyi Tewogbade as well as Prince Adegorite Adefisoye.
The Chairman, Olambe Area CDC, Comrade Omolade Ganiyu while delivering his welcome address commended the effort of the immediate past chairman of the Area CDC, Captain Babatope Emmanuel Kehinde (Rtd) and said the event is meant to celebrate themselves. Part of his speech reads:
“Olambe Area CDC have grown from strength to strength under our father, the pioneer chairman and grand patron of Olambe Area CDC, Captain Babatope Emmanuel Kehinde (Rtd). The immeasurable achievement of Captain BEK (Rtd) in community development programmes, security of lifes, properties and building leadership for the future is what make me to stand before you all, as his successor in the capacity of Olambe Area CDC Chairman.
“This event a 1st Community Day and Sentforth/Award was set aside to celebrate ourselves as the real community developers who do not wait or hope for any help from the government hierarchies to execute both minor or major projects that reduces heavy burden in our community. Ladies and gentlemen we must acknowledge and thanks the founders of Community Development Association in Ogun State, South West and Nigeria as a whole for good vision and mission toward self help, best help, surest help as the community (motto).
“If not for the effort of these community development visioners, linked road, security, education, health, electricity, environmental related issues, market, youths and women development will have eluded us completely in a country like ours where good governance still remain a mirage and corruption is celebrated across all tiers of government. Community development in Ogun State have gone beyond human imagination in terms of self help best help surest help development in our various community jurisdiction – I say kudos to all of us Sirs/Mas.”
The chairman also pledged that his administration will be transparent and accountable to his people and seek their support in order to be able to discharge their duties appropriately. “Our policy focus shall be transparency, accountability, equity and justice. The recognitions and awards to deserved community leaders which started today will be a continuous exercise. We therefore seek your continuous support at all times so that we can discharge our duties maximally as enshrined in Ogun State Community Development programme law of 2013, he added.”
Activities at the event include; ewi and cultural dance by students of Olambe Community School, youths presentation on sexual abuse, presentation of awards and certificates to outstanding community developers as well as entertainment.
