SMEDAN Empower 145 youths in Oyo state

Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN has empowered 145 youths under its National Business Skill Development in Oyo State, South West, Nigeria.

The empowerment programme that took place on Monday 18th October 2021 at the Emmanuel Alayande Hall trained the beneficiaries on Fashion Design, Catering and, Hair Dressing.


Seventy (75)beneficiaries from the Fashion Design Department were given Industrial sewing machines, 30 beneficiaries from the Catering Department were given Gas cooker and Oven and Mixer, and 40 beneficiaries from Hair Dressing were given Dryer, Foot Massager, Blower, and Tunner to enhance their respective businesses.

The programme is designed to provide entrepreneurship and vocational skills as well as provision of empowerment materials and equipment to fill the capacity gap of the youths. The initiative is designed to ensure that professional services will be provided by local and well-trained young artisans leading to a reduction in job losses in the country.

The programme is being implemented in all the states of the Federation and FCT where a total of 5,365 entrepreneurs were impacted with entrepreneurship and vocational skills as well as provision of empowerment materials to 145 beneficiaries per state and FCT.

Director-General of SMEDAN, Dr. Dikko Radda Gwagwaren Katsina, was represented by Deputy Director of Engineering, Mr. Ibrahim Toyin Abdul Malik, and the program was declared open by Honorable Commissioner of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative in person of Barrister Olanurewaju Olaleye and other Directors from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative
