The chairman of SPN in Koye Town, Mr Gbolahan Togunbo commended the community for giving them the to opportunity to talk to them. He explained what SPN is all about. “Socialist Party of Nigeria is meant to defend the right of the people”, he said.
Soweto while addressing the people appreciate them for granting them to opportunity to discuss with them and also lay more emphasis on the aims and objectives of the political party. He said: “Both the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been tormenting the people of Nigeria for long, its as if there is no government in Nigeria. Consequently, people of like minds and good heart for the country came together to established this political party.
“Because of our brilliant programmes, INEC and the government don’t want us to get registered, it took us more than 4 years before we won this battle. Our constituency has been abandoned for years, there is no good road, public health centre, and other social amenities. If our representative at the House of Assembly is passionate about development, our constituency will have been developed. So I urged you to support us and send us to the House of Assembly in order to defend the interest of the people.
“If elected, we promise to be collecting the same salary with the civil servants and all elected members of our party will not relocate out of his or her constituency. I also urge you to shun money politics because this is what has been affecting us for so many years. I equally urge our youths to shun political thuggery.”
The Baale while responding to Soweto speech, applauded him for his courage and said he will need to make some consultations before he can give him his word. He then admonished him to hold meetings with CDAs and CDCs and to have good relationship with various youth groups in the constituency. Afterward, he prayed for him.
Leaders and youths in attendance commended the aspirant and urged him not to relent in his effort. Mr Majaro David said “I commend your courage for contesting and I will advise you to consult other stakeholders in the community.”
