Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) hold her primary election today, 29th of September, 2018 for the post of House of Assembly, Ifo Consistency 2. The election which was held at Tof Hotel, Oke Aro had several party members and leaders in attendance.

The event was kicked start with recognition of dignitaries as well as party leaders, followed by solidarity songs. The party state chairman, Comrade Adeola Soetan while addressing the party faithfuls said “Freedom is not free, we fight for it.” He then urged the members to use the vote to install the right candidates. He said countries like Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, among others that are going through war don’t have bad roads as we have them in Nigeria, especially in Oke Aro axis, adding that only prayer cannot solve our problems, rather we should all get involved in politics.

The National Secretary of the party, who is also chairman of the National Electoral Committee (NEC), Comrade Chinedu while addressing the party faithfuls said Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) is meant to rescue the country saying “The process just started and we will get there soon.” “Only one person show interest to represent the good people of Ifo Consistency 2 at Ogun State House of Assembly, consequently we will be adopting the direct primary system as agreed by the National Electoral Committee of our great party.” He then introduced other members of the NEC, which are; Mallam Yusuf Mobolaji (Ifo Local Government Secretary) and Alfa Sonde (State Treasurer).

At the end of the election, all the 22 delegates voted for the only aspirant, Hassan Taiwo Soweto. Soweto while delivering his remark, commended the party members and supporters for a well done job. “This is the beginning of a new dawn and I am determine to give my people good representation to better their lives. I urge you to give me more support, during campaign, before and after election.”

“As a human right activist, I have had several bitter experiences with the government and that has never deter me from fighting for human right. Majority of politicians in Nigeria have turn the country to their private business and we all need stand against this.”

“I am not going into politics for selfish reasons but to liberate my people and don’t make another mistake of voting corrupt politicians into government. I really appreciate the members of our beloved party for having trust in me and I promise that I will not let you down. If I am elected, I will not relocate to other Area and I will not receive more than what Civil Servant receive as salary, while other benefits and allowances will be donated to our beloved party.” He said.
