Delay in the completion of the 32kilometer Ojodu Abiodun – Akute-Olambe – Ijoko – Sango road is a danger to the live and wellbeing of residents of the area.

The National Youth Leader of Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), Comrade Hassan Taiwo Soweto has call on Ogun State Government to complete the 32kilometer Ojodu Abiodun – Akute-Olambe – Ijoko – Sango road saying delay in completion of the road poses great danger to the residents of the area.

Soweto who is also the candidate of SPN in the 2019 Ogun State House of Assembly election stated this in a chat with our correspondent while reacting to the incident of fuel tanker that fell on the said road on Friday due to the bad condition of the road.

He said: “This unfortunate accident demonstrate how the continuous delay in the completion of the 32kilometer Ojodu Abiodun – Akute-Olambe – Ijoko – Sango road is a danger to the live and wellbeing of residents of the area. We are lucky that there is no loss of life or fire outbreak. But if the Ogun State government continues to make empty promises about the completion of the road project, there is no way tragedy will not happen someday.

“Palliatives, as demanded by the Ifo Transition Committee Chairman, will not bring any remedy to the terrible situation which the road is in. Many parts of the 32kilometre stretch have failed and the uncompleted bridges which are now being used by commuters will soon begin to show sign of stress because they were not declared ready for use by the contractors before residents were forced by circumstances to open them for use.

“Indeed the call for palliative by the Ifo Transition Committee Chairman at this time when the state government has already announced in the media that the state executive council has decided on completing the road project shows that this announcement by the state government maybe one of such propaganda gimmicks to continue to give hope to the people whereas there is no concrete plan on ground.

“Immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun used a similar trick on the people for 8 years. This is why I will again use this occassion to call on the Governor Dapo Abiodun led state government to immediately swing into action to complete the road projects through democratically-controlled public works programme. We are tired of empty promises, we want to see real work starting on the 32 kilometre Ojodu Abiodun to Sango road project and other impassable roads in different parts of the communities.”

  1. This Governor does not care about this area. Many of us grew up around here and we’ve never tasted the sight of a good road. Yet votes are always gotten from this end on a steady. Na God fit help us.
