YAP Foundation sensitize students on sexual violence

Yomi Adesoji Paseda Foundation, a non governmental organization sensitize over 300 students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo on danger of rape and other sexual violence. The sensitization programme took place during the organization awareness compaign against rape and all forms of sexual abuses.

The President of the organizing, Yomi Adesoji in an interaction with our correspondent on Whatsapp said the programme is meant to create awareness on rape and other sexual violence.

“The purpose of the programme is to create an awareness on rape and other sexual offences, to create an awareness that such offences are infringements on the rights of the victim, to create an awareness that such acts are criminal and punishable under the law, to preach the message of hope and encouragement to victim, and to encourage victims to speak up and report perpetrators, Adesoji said.”

When asked the advice she have for the participants, Adesoji have this to say: “Our advice to students is that the girls or ladies should desist from doing things that will endanger them such as wearing of seductive dresses. We are also encouraging victims to speak up so that perpetrators will be brought to book and serve as deterrent to others.”

Highlight of the event include; distribution of handbills, presentation on rape, presentation of songs to the participants on the need for all to join force together to stop the menace as well as educating participants the forms of sexual abuses such rape, sodomy, child rape, exposure of children to pornography, unwanted sexual contacts and touches.
