The leadership of Ogun State Youth in Community has distance themselves from palliative distributed by the state government to Youths in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown due to COVID – 19. This was contained in an open letter going viral on social media, particularly Whatsapp. The open letter reads:

“RE: Ogun Distribute Palliatives To Over 100, 000 Youths

The attention of the leadership of Ogun State Youth in Community Development Council has been drawn to the statement credited to Special Assistant to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR the executive governor of Ogun State, Mr. Lamide Lawal that about 100,000 youths in the state have been given relief package occasioned by the lockdown in the state.

We are surprised by the neglect of the Youths constituency in the state and the distribution of the relief package on social media without the package getting to the intended audience.

We call on the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) to explain how the said palliatives were being shared, cause we are yet to see the said items within Youths except on social media with just few Youths.

We call on His Excellency and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths, Comrade Lamide Lawal to investigate the matter before releasing another batch of the 20,000 palliatives he promised the Youths across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.

The Youths in Community is community based youths in the CDA’s/ CDC’s and we are the grassroots. It is on record that we appreciate our dear Governor on several media platforms when we saw his relief materials to the vulnerable, poor and the aged people in our dear state.

We call the attention of the Governor to this matter because we don’t want some set of people to politicized his good efforts in taking care of all sectors of the society in this pandemic period.

It’s our prayer that God will continue to guide our dear Governor and his cabinet members to saddle the affairs of our State to promise land.

Thanks
