Ogun State Youth in Community Empower 100 Youths across the 3 senatorial districts

In a bid to foster development of the Youths and to curb illegal act among them, Ogun State Youth in Community Development Committee under the leadership of Comrade Usman Ganiyu Olamilekan in partnership with Office of the Special Adviser on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment has successfully trained and empowered 100 Youths across the 3 senatorial districts of the state on tie and die (Kampala/Adire). The youth organization have trained the selected beneficiaries of the programme for a month and then partner with the Office of the Special Adviser on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment to empower them in order to kick start their new business.

The empowerment and presentation of startup pack that took pace on Friday, 8th of October, 2021 at Oba’s Complex, Òkè Mosan, Abeokuta had prominent personalities in attendance such as; Abiola Odetola, S. A on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment; Mr. Demiji Bello, S. A on Finance; Hon. Commissioner on Rural Development, Hon. Twinny; S. A. to the Governor on Inter-ethnics relation, Prince Sanni Hadi; S. A on Youth and Sport, Hon. Olamide Lawal; Zonal Chairman Abeokuta North, Chief Ajagunjeun Kazeem; Ogun State NYCN Chairman, Comrade Ayelaagbe Abdul Jabar; Ogun East Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Kuojo Olawale; Ogun West Senatorial Youth Rep, Elder Ogunseye; as well as all Zonal Youth Reps across the 20 LGA’s.

In a chat with our correspondent, the State Publicity Officer of the organization, Comrade (Engr.) Olayinka O. W said the programme is meant to empower youths in the community with at least a vocational skill.

“The aim of the training is to make sure most youths in the community are empowered with at least a vocational skill which will be a means of livelihood or feeding to every participant of the skills acquisition programme. And this is exactly what we just did.
“I believe with this training acquired, they would be self reliance and independent if they put to practice the knowledge they acquired.” Olayinka asserted.

He however stated the goals the organization, he said:
“Our goal as the Youth in Community is to; Foster the development of youth from the 20 Local Government of our dear state because we are closer to the grassroots. Curb illegal acts among the young leaders of tomorrow, create an avenue to regularly sensitize them positively through seminars, workshops, symposium, etc. Manage conflicts that may emanate to communal clashes amongst the youths. Have access to first-hand information on job opportunities and empowerment from all nooks and crannies of the state.”

Highlight of the event include; presentation of start up pack to the participants, presentation of certification, prize giving to best participants, exhibition of Kampala/Adire products by the participant, as well as discounted business name registration.
