Matogbun Area CDC hold first statutory meeting in 2019

Maidan Town received several visitors as Maidan United Group of CDAs host Matogbun Area CDC monthly statutory meeting. The meeting which was held at Maidan Primary Health Centre on Thursday was well attended by members as well as visitors.

The Group chairman of Maidan United Group of CDAs, Alhaji S. A. Adeagbo in his welcome address appreciated everyone present at the meeting and commiserate with the families of members that lost their love ones namely; Mr Lukman Oridamisi (Uncle), son of Pa Oridamisi, member Maidan Baale and Council as well as Alhaja Aderemi, wife of Alhaji Ismail Aderemi T. K (Alfamini).

Part of his speech reads: “Maidan United Group inaugurated 3 years ago currently has 6 CDAs namely: Maidan Central (Special concession), Ifesowapo and Oluwalogbon. Other are Riverside, Unity Estate and Itesiwaju (Recently created out of Maidan Central and Ifesowapo).

Despite all appeals, sensitization and efforts made to increase the number by dividing CDAs that are too large in size/population and capable of inhibiting growth, without rancor, some leaders unfortunately out of myopic thinking, that breaking into smaller units will affect their friendly ties or joint projects refuse to co-operate. Thank God the impact of breaking into smaller units is already manifesting in the only CDA we were able to create. Since this is a continuous exercise we will not despair.”

On electricity, the chairman have this to say: “It is sad to report that Maidan has been in darkness since December 2017. Our faulty transformer ostensibly carried away in January 2018 for repair by Ikeja Electric has not been returned. We were able to encourage residents to pay the required 1+1 electricity bills to facilitate its return. According to information from Ikeja Electric, Olambe Undertaking, the community has been able to pay 2.7 million naira as at December, 2018. This situation has devastatingly affected our economy activities, CDA/Group programs and by extension our obligations to the Area CDC. Members attendance at meetings and financial contributions have dwindled to insignificance. We hereby calling on the Area CDC to be practically committed to our struggle for the return of our transformer.”

On health, the chairman said there is tremendous progress on the ongoing Primary Health Centre of the community and call on the LCDA chairman not to forget Maidan Health Centre and the work they have started.

“To God be the glory. The Health Centre Building is wearing a new look. Despite the electricity problem that crippled our activities, we have been able to fix glass sliding windows. Contract for doors have been awarded while work on the toilet facilities is progressing. All these happening unexpected within the last two weeks. Thanks to the people that made all these possible. I fervently pray that Almighty God will continue to strength and increase them in wealth. Prior to the above development, we have written to the Commissioner, State Ministry of Health and the Chairman, Agbado Oke Aro LCDA urging them to take over the project. We are happy to report that the Chairman, Agbado Oke Aro LCDA recently responded by starting with the ceiling of the building, but this is yet to be completed.

“The Health Centre Building is now securely and conveniently ready for health delivery programs. We require health officers to be posted to the centre with other necessary materials that will enable people to enjoy primary health care delivery programs and also have access to information on ways to healthy life. We also require Area CDC to assist on this.”

Matogbun Area CDC chairman, Deacon O. M. Olapade while responding to the Group Chairman welcome address commended him for a well done job and also commiserate with the families that lost their loved ones and sent representatives to the families for condolence visit. He admonished the people of Maidan United Group of CDAs not to let the issues of transformer affect their community meetings and activities, adding that the only solution to the challenge is meetings. “There is nothing the Area CDC can do, if the people of Maidan did not hold meetings and make solid decision in the issue of transformer. Absence of transformer is not enough reason for people to boycott meeting, he added.”

On Matogbun – Oke Aro Road, Olapade commended transport union, particularly Elder Liadi Kareem (Oyibiri) for a well done job, saying tolling will commence on the road before next meeting.

On security, Matogbun Area CDC PCRC Chairman, Mr Godwin Dottie admonished members of the public to be security conscious, saying hoodlums are robbing people of their belongings recently, he also mentioned the places that the robbery incidents took place.

Hon Fatiu Folawewo Salami, who is vying for the to represent the people of Ifo constituency II at Ogun State House of Assembly was represented in the meeting by Hon Odunfa. Odunfa, while addressing the gathering urged the people to cast their vote for her political party (APC) in the forthcoming election. She said Fola reside in Oke Aro, which is an advantage for the people of the LCDA.

The grand patron of Matogbun Area CDC, Otunba Olusanya while addressing the gathering, admonished all and sundry to support and co-operate with the community leaders for successful tolling and maintenance of Matogbun – Oke Aro Road, adding that tolling the road is the only way to have palliative measure on the road. He also admonished members of the community to participate actively in politics.
