The Lagos state youth parliament writes to you to condemn in the strongest possible terms the abuse and racist mistreatment of Africans living and working in China; particularly at a time when we should be supporting one another to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

President Xi Jinping, The Lagos youths will not tolerate any unpleasant treatment of Africans living in China. Knowing fully well that Africans living in diaspora did not disobey any pandemic law of China on the specified days for quarantine.

We call on President Xi jinping of China to do the needful, not forgetting that we have over 10 million Chinese in Africa and a quite number of them residing in Lagos state, we have welcomed them with open arms, treated them with courtesy and we expect the same of our fellow Africans in China.

What has been done to Africans in China is inhumane and deplorable, therefore Lagos Youths cannot stand by and allow it to continue President Xi.

President Xi, Lagos State Youths are calling on you to make sure that Africans who are being sent out of their homes, should be allowed to go back home with their families.

Mr President sir, the Lagos youth is counting on you to do what is right, just and fair, we won’t continue to tolerate this abuse from the Chinese citizens.

Hon. SHASANYA AKINOLA
House Committee Chairman on International Affairs,
Lagos State Youth Parliament
