EID-FITR CELEBRATION: MSSN Lagos felicitates with Muslim faithful, urges government to improve living condition of Nigerians

The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria,(MSSN) has felicitated with all Muslim faithful in the country and across the world on the successful completion of 2019 Ramadan Fasting period.

Following the official new moon sighting announcement by the head of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar lll, Nigeria joined the rest of the world, Tuesday, to observe Eid-Fitr which signifies the termination of Ramadan fasting exercise and beginning of Shawwal

Meanwhile, the Amir (President) of Lagos State Area Unit of the society, Dr. Saheed Ashafa in an official release Congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah for witnessing the end of Ramadan which he described as a month of uncommon favour and abundant blessings from Allah .

Dr. Ashafa urged Nigerians to continue the spirit of Ramadan which has transformed individuals positively during the entire holy month of fasting.

He said, “we urge Nigerians to eschew all forms of vices and inhuman conducts to one another but the spirit of love, care and mercy the fasting period has inculcated in us.”

The students leader who had on May 29 expressed the society’s message to the newly inaugurated political leaders across various levels of government in the country, advised them to sacrifice all forms of luxury but render impactful service to the benefit of the masses.

“In Particular, the political leaders should imbibe the spirit of Ramadan by sacrificing all forms of luxury but render impactful service for the benefit of the masses.”

MSSN, Lagos state Area Unit which has been an advocate of good governance, youth leaderships and quality education in Nigeria used this period of Eid-Fitr to also call on government to give priority to improving condition of Nigerians particularly the unemployed youth and Children who are the feature leaders of the country.

“We exhort the government to place priority on improving the living condition of the downtrodden, the multitude unemployed youths and the vulnerable school children who are all at the mercy of the government.”

The Amir believed this can only be made practically possible if leaders in government demonstrate the teachings of giving the poor as learnt in Ramadan by providing for the helpless citizens in their constituencies.
