Fuel tanker fall at Olambe, split content

A 33,000 litres fuel tanker fell and split it content early hour of today, Friday, 9th of October at Olambe Bus Stop, along Berger – Ijoko road, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. According to an eyewitness, the tanker fall was caused by the gullies along the road when the tanker driver trying to maneuver his way up the hill.

Meanwhile, the Transitional Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Fatiu Folawewo Salami in a press release has urged residents of the area to remain calm as work is on top gear to return life to normal in the affected area.

Part of the press release reads: “I got a security report from citizens about the sad incident which, I had to place a call through to the Ogun State Fire Service for quick response. On arrival at the scene it was observed that the 33,000 litre tanker has began to spill its contents. Residents were urged to stay clear of the road and other areas suspectable to threat of lives and property before the firefighters arrived.

“However, as at the time of filing this report the Ogun State Fire Service are now on ground to avert any sudden explosion and ensure no life and property is lost. Residents should be calm as work are already on top gear to see that life along this axis goes to normal as some person were already seen panicking.

“Residents are also advised to make use of alternative routes available. We shall continue to liaise and remind the state government on the need for urgent palliatives before modalities of the 32km Ojodu-Abiodun-Akute-Okearo-Agbado-Ijoko road project is concluded. Please bear with us.”
