2022 Int’l Youth Day: LCYDI Celebrate with Legislative Arm of LG, LCDA in Lagos

International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

The Day gives an opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement. It was established by the UN General Assembly (A/RES/54/120), which on 17 December 1999, endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth calling for 12 August to be declared International Youth Day.

The Theme for year 2022 is INTERGENERATIONAL SOLIDARITY.
The Leadership of Lagos Community Youth Development Initiative LCYDI in collaboration with Legislative Arm of Local Government is having “Community Youth and Legislative Dialogue” with focus on BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION FOR SOCIO-ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT.

LCYDI team are celebrating International Youth Day 2022 with special attention to collaboration with all Stakeholders toward community development and also celebrating one year in office of Councilors and Executive Chairman. The Community Youth and Legislative Dialogue will bring strong synergy with the Community Youths and Legislative Arm of the government at the local government level and also promote the activities relating to oversight functions of the Legislative Arm.

The Leadership of LCYDI is using this medium to call the attention of Stakeholders and Government both at the State and Local level, to support the community development projects and programs of Community Youth and Legislative Arm which we believed that will add more value to local government and state on area of security and socio economy development.

This year’s theme intends to spread the message that every generation needs to take action to achieve all the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) by the year 2030.

The 17 goals are poverty, zero hunger, good health and we’ll being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry innovation and infrastructure, regulated inequality, sustainable cities and Communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, Peace and justice strong institution, partnership to achieve the set goals. LCYDI will serve as catalyst for the transformational process to birth a safe society of our dreams through inspiring and influencing positivity, proffering solutions to salient issues and reaching out to all Stakeholders.

All Ages and generations matters, to transform our society, we need to live in unity and peace with each other. We are encouraging the people of Lagos State to embrace one another, share opinions and also be in peace. Celebrating the International Youth Day by Nigerian Youth should go beyond rhetorics. The task to transform our world is a task for all. LET’S ALL DO OUR PART AS GOOD CITIZEN.
