Tuesday, 10th of December, 2019 was indeed a historical day for residents of Maidan Town as Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) replaced their faulty transformer after 2 years of black out. However, most residents of the community who interacted with our correspondent commended the effort of leaders in the community but said the replacement of the transformer cannot be celebrated until it energized, saying there are 2 transformers in the community for several months that are not energized.
Recall that the 300 KVA transformer of the community broke down in December, 2017 and was taken away by IKEDC for repair in January 2018 and the company (IKEDC) said they can only replace the transformer if the community clear their debt of #3.2 million naira (three million, two hundred thousand naira) on the transformer.
