IKEDC return Maidan transformer after 2 years of black out

Tuesday, 10th of December, 2019 was indeed a historical day for residents of Maidan Town as Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) replaced their faulty transformer after 2 years of black out. However, most residents of the community who interacted with our correspondent commended the effort of leaders in the community but said the replacement of the transformer cannot be celebrated until it energized, saying there are 2 transformers in the community for several months that are not energized.

Recall that the 300 KVA transformer of the community broke down in December, 2017 and was taken away by IKEDC for repair in January 2018 and the company (IKEDC) said they can only replace the transformer if the community clear their debt of #3.2 million naira (three million, two hundred thousand naira) on the transformer.

Efforts by the community to recover their transformer prove abortive until they meet the company’s condition. The community also contributed money to get 2 new transformers, yet the company fail to energize them.

Maidan Town is a rural community located in Agbado Oke Aro LCDA, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. The community that has been in existence for decades lack basic infrastructure and amenities.
